Prima Diagnostic Care

Many times the first line of defense in any health care matter is accurate diagnostic testing. The right diagnostic testing allows your primary care physician to have the knowledge necessary to determine the proper course of treatment. Prima Health Care is able to do an array of testing in their facilities, saving our patients valuable time. These include:

Dexa Bone Density Scans

Did you know that nearly half of all women over age 50 will have an osteoporosis related fracture in their lifetime? This bone loss condition causes bones to become weak and easily break from a minor fall or, in serious cases, from a simple action such as a sneeze. This condition can often lead to a loss of independence.

However, a simple and painless bone mineral density (BMD) test can diagnosis bone loss which can assist in determining treatment options in order to stave off further bone loss.

Prima Health Care has installed a state of the art General Electric bone density scanning machine at our Columbiana office. This important and preventative testing option is covered by most insurance carriers.

Dexa Bone Density Scan services are available at our Prima Health Care Columbiana office.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound testing is a non-invasive imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of structures within the body.

At Prima Health Care, we specialize in echocardiography, an advanced ultrasound technique used to evaluate the function of the heart as well as the blood flow in the arteries and veins.

Ultrasound is also used to diagnose medical conditions in the abdomen, pelvis and breast.

Ultrasound services are available at both our Prima Health Care offices in Boardman and Columbiana.

X-ray

The most common diagnostic testing is X-rays. An X-ray is conducted by a qualified technologist and uses radiation to take images of a specific body area. Once developed, the X-rays are interpreted by a radiologist who will consult with your primary care provider in order to make the correct diagnoses.

The radiation absorbed by the body in most X-ray examinations is about the same low level received from natural environmental sources and is not considered dangerous.

X-ray services are available at our Prima Health Care Columbiana office.
